A fantastic opportunity to work hands on with
rescue primates
The sanctuary cares for over 75 Marmosets,
Tamarins, Squirrel Monkeys, and Mona Monkeys. Many arrive with
behavioural problems and require rehabilitation. This remarkable
sanctuary rescues and provides care for any primate from anywhere in
the world.
The demand for this service is growing
relentlessly; as unfortunately, the sanctuary receives a constant
stream of requests to rescue homeless primates in South Africa and
abroad.
Your work as a volunteer in this sanctuary is
valued highly by the
organisation. Your time at the sanctuary is extremely important to the
charity, and makes a huge difference to the quality of life and
standard of care for the monkeys.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to
watch the vet in work at the nearby world renown Onderstepoort
Veterinary Academic Hospital. You will learn how the vet treats sick
wildlife and be able to watch surgical procedures. This will be varied
and involve working with lots of different exotic animals
As a volunteer you will be able to
offer these monkeys the compassion and pampering that many of them had
never known before their arrival at the sanctuary. This is a
wonderful
opportunity to learn and gain experience of animal rescue work and care.
This project will enable you to gain valuable hands-on experience in a
sanctuary which is the first of its kind in South Africa.
