Zoo keeper: this work involves carrying out tasks such as 'mucking out', cleaning and filling water troughs, replenishing bedding and monitoring temperatures. Another important aspect of the work involves observing animals for any signs of injury or illness; if an animal is sick or injured, Zoo keepers help to care for it under the direction of a vet.

There are some opportunities to work abroad; some zoos participate in keeper exchange programmes and there may be the chance to work for a short time in Australia, New Zealand or the USA.
