Cetacean Research and Rescue Unit (CRRU) is a small, non-profit research organisation based in NE Scotland. The group is dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales, dolphins and porpoises in Scottish waters through scientific investigation, environmental education, and the provision of professional, veterinary assistance to sick, stranded and injured individuals. Volunteers required. Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) has a vision of a world where farm animals are treated with compassion and respect and where cruel factory farming practices end. Celia Hammond Trust provides care and refuge for feral cats and kittens and for those animals which on the basis of age, temperament or appearance would not normally be taken in elsewhere. The organisation strives to: promote the welfare of animals through example and education, provide low cost treatment in their clinics for sick/injured animals, provide low cost neuter/vaccination clinics, operate a rescue service for animals, both domestic and feral in emergency situations, provide long and short-term sanctuary accommodation and re-homing facilities for rescued animals and to investigate complaints of cruelty and neglect and to take appropriate action. Volunteers required. The Cats Protection (CP) was formed in 1927, Cats Protection (CP) has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. They now care for and find new homes for around 60,000 cats and kittens every year, through a network of 29 Adoption Centres and 260 voluntary-run Branches. They also provide an array of cat care information and promote the benefits of neutering for a happier pet and distribute education packs to a third of schools in the UK. Volunteers required. CottonTails Rabbit Rescue works to rescue and re-home rabbits and guinea pigs in the UK. They also run education projects and require volunteers to assist their work. Cheltenham Animal Shelter is a charity that has been helping animals since the 1930's. They provide kennelling for stray dogs from three councils: Gloucester City, Tewkesbury Borough and Cheltenham Borough. They re-home animals from owners who can no longer look after them for a variety of reasons. Their purpose is to provide a safe, secure haven to all animals in plight. Their mission is to return to health the sick, find homes for the lost and give dignity to the aged. Contact to assist as a volunteer. Dorset Animal Workers Group is a rescue organisation local to the Poole/Bournemouth area. They take in local dogs as well as those from rescues based in Ireland. Contact to assist as a volunteer. Diana Brimblecom Animal Rescue Centre (DBARC) assists and provides shelter for a variety of animals in need in the Berkshire area. Contact to assist as a volunteer. The Destitute Animal Shelter, Bolton has a non-destruction policy and are committed to reducing the unwanted dog and cat problem in Bolton by neutering every animal they re-home. They deal with over 2,000 animals per year, either reuniting them with their owners or finding them new homes. Volunteer assistance required.
