Unlike humans, other animals cannot say how they feel – rather like small children really. Yet animals can indicate a state of health or ill health and animal carers need to learn what these indications are. Learn how you can identify what to expect from a dog when they are healthy and what to expect when they are feeling unwell. Learn how to carry our daily health checks, how to deal with parasites and all about the general well-being of dogs. This course also includes information about canine nutrition. There are many different career options working with dogs and all of them involve having an understanding about the care and welfare requirements for dogs. Many jobs with dogs involve working with dogs living in confinement in animal charity or private boarding kennels and this type of role requires staff to carry our daily health checks, attend to each dog's nutritional requirements and ensure the health and welfare of dogs including exercise and environmental enrichment. Other jobs include dog walking, dog home boarding and dog grooming; for all of these roles, it is essential to have a through understanding of canine care and welfare in order to ensure that dogs you are looking after receive high standards of care. This course provides this information and successful completion results in an accredited Level 3 Certificate in Canine Care and Welfare.
