They may set up their own practice and undertake related work such as dog training. This can be a well paid profession and the hours are varied as most are self employed. Behaviourists must be patient, compassionate and demonstrate a genuine love for dogs. You don't need any formal qualifications, but to succeed it is strongly advisable to have a recognised qualification and there are an increasing number of courses run by colleges and individuals. The most suitable qualifications would be a degree in behavioural studies, veterinary medicine, psychology or a biological science.
