Requirements for Entry

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment for most of these courses. Any specific entry requirements will be detailed on the appropriate course page. They are available to all students, of all ages and academic backgrounds.

Format of the Courses

There are no essays required for any of these courses. Each course is divided into modules with course notes provided for each one. Within the notes are module questions that will normally require additional research to answer. There is generally one larger project per module and finally revision questions that can be answered using the module notes. Once the questions have been answered send your work for marking to your tutor in the folder supplied or by email. A report is then produced for you highlighting any strengths and weaknesses (if any) in your work in a student log-book. This is then all returned to you along with the next module. You do not need to do all of the modules, if you are only interested in certain topics then we will still provide you with a certificate stating what modules you have successfully completed.

Speed of Study

It is possible to complete any of the courses at a rate of one module a month, however experience tells us that you should allow a little longer. It is entirely up to you how fast you work and this will depend on your own personal commitments, all we ask is that you contact your tutor once a month. We don't set deadlines and try to be as flexible as possible with students.

Tutor Support

Upon registration, you are assigned a personal tutor to help you with your work and any questions you might have. The tutors' job is not only to mark your work but also to provide academic support and guidance if required. He or she will be available to answer queries by phone (not after 9pm please) or e-mail. In the unfortunate circumstances that a students' work falls below the required standard it will be returned, (usually following a discussion) in order that the student can re-submit the work before the mark is recorded. All tutors are experts in the field and many also have teaching qualifications and experience.
