Birds
of Prey Conservation, Rescue and Rehabilitation Course
Course
Synopsis
The
aim of this course is for learners to gain a broad understanding of the
world of raptors: their physiology, lifecycles, ecology, husbandry and
rehabilitation.
Each
module consists of three taught topics and an assignment. For each
topic, learners will receive teaching and guidance in the form of
downloadable/printable handouts with directed further reading. In
addition, a recorded lecture (podcast) from the tutor will elaborate
upon each topic, placing it into context. Short documentary-style video
clips featuring interviews with specialists at work can be included
online to add a dynamic extra dimension to the learning experience. The
tutor will be available to discuss topics with learners via scheduled
online forum chats and via email.
Learners will be assessed on their 6 module assignments (6 x 10%) plus a final essay (40%).
Our guiding philosophy is simple: the
more we understand about raptors, their behaviours and habitats, the
more effectively we can protect, treat and rehabilitate them.
