Cat Grooming & Health Diploma Level 3

  • The Cat Grooming Course is suitable for careers with cats in boarding catteries, rescue homes, veterinary practices etc, as well as for anyone interested in learning how to groom their own cats properly.
  • Grooming is an important part of a cat's health and wellbeing. A regularly groomed cat will be happier, feel more comfortable and have a healthier looking and shinier coat as well as prevent and alleviate suffering.
  • This is a 4 module theory course and should ideally be studied alongside practical experience - this can be gained by volunteering at a local animal home or grooming salon, or by grooming cats belonging to family and friends.

Module 1

Feline Welfare, Health and First Aid

This first module explains how to carry out health checks, identify common health disorders and deal with common parasites such as ticks and fleas.

Gain an understanding about the rules of first aid for felines and how to construct a First Aid Kit. Learn how to recognise and respond to emergencies.

Module 2

Grooming, Clipping, Bathing

This module covers the why and when: Learn about grooming, clipping, bathing and dry baths for cats.

How to groom, grooming techniques, equipment, tools and products are all covered in this comprehensive module.

Module 3

Cat Care

This module explores the  essential aspects of cat grooming to ensure well being.

Learn how to care for teeth, claws, face, rear, ears and about the grooming of kittens and older cats.

Module 4

Humane Handling, Restraint and Transportation

Learn about the stress of movement and how to understand, recognise and reduce stress for cats during transport.

Learn how to handle, restrain and carry cats. Being able to do this effectively, will reduce your risk of bites and injury, as well as ensure minimum stress for the cats in your care. Having a good understanding of handling and restraint will make the job of cat grooming much easier for the groomer.
