Course Summary

 

This Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Dog Grooming is a beginners course for those who wish to train and study dog grooming.

Learners will study how to groom a variety of dog breeds by studying the theory elements online and gaining practical hands-on experience in a professional setting.

This is an Ofqual regulated qualification that has been developed by the awarding organization iPET Network. This course meets the DEFRA higher standard licence requirements and provides 5 days of practical hands-on training at a dog grooming school in Winsford, Cheshire.

Learners will study the responsibility of a professional dog groomer and will be able to apply for roles within the canine sector.

Unit 1

Health and Safety in a Dog Grooming Environment

The aim of this unit is to provide the knowledge, skills and understanding of the importance of Health and Safety demonstrating awareness of hazards, risks and Biosecurity complying with relevant legislation and codes of practice fundamental to the grooming environment. To ensure safe working practices of groomers and dogs in their care to the highest welfare standards.

Unit 2

Prepare, Style and Finish Several Dog Breeds

The aim of this unit is to provide knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare, style and finish a range of dog breeds using various techniques according to breed pattern or client requirements.
