This Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling is aimed at learners who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to become a qualified Dog Groomer.
Learners will study how to groom, prepare, style, cut and finish a selection of dogs with various styles of coats.
This is an Ofqual regulated qualification that has been developed by the awarding organisation iPET Network. This course meets the DEFRA higher standard licence requirements and provides 15 days of practical hands-on training at a dog grooming school in Winsford, Cheshire.
Learners will understand the roles and responsibilities of a professional dog groomer and will be able to apply for roles within the canine sector.
15 Day Practical Training
This course includes invaluable practical training, held at the advanced COVID-secure dog grooming training school in Winsford, Cheshire, UK.
During your 15-days of practical, you will work alongside trained and highly experienced dog grooming professionals.
This unique learning experience will allow you to work on your dog grooming and health and safety procedures. You will also be able to practice the grooming and styling techniques on several clients (dogs) with a range of coats styles and lengths.
Throughout your training, you will be monitored, supported, and assessed by experienced dog grooming tutors.
At the end of your practical training, you will be equipped with the confidence and the experience to apply for roles in the dog grooming sector.
Please note that as a covid precaution, it is mandatory for learners to have their own grooming equipment when attending the practical training. A comprehensive dog grooming kit is available to purchase from our practical training provider for the amount of £450. Alternatively, learners can provide their own equipment. If you decide to provide your own equipment, our training provider will need to approve your equipment list to ensure it is suitable before you attend the placement.

Candidates will demonstrate the importance of maintaining equipment and safe working practices in line with current Health and Safety legislation, Animal Welfare legislation and environmental good practice.
The aim of this unit is to provide the knowledge, skills and understanding required to care for dogs in a grooming environment. To be able to carry out health checks and identify anatomical points on a dog, know and understand canine behaviour and be able to adapt handling to different dogs.
