Quality of our Qualifications and Courses

Many of the qualifications that we offer are regulated & officially recognised by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). All of the Ofqual regulated qualifications that we offer meet the new Animal Activities Licensing (AAL) requirements.

There are many training providers who claim that their courses are Ofqual regulated and therefore meet the new AAL requirements - this is not always the case -  to check whether a qualification is Ofqual regulated,  search the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications to find out if a qualification is regulated (officially recognised), and what level it is on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Put simply, if it isn't on the Ofqual Register, it isn't Ofqual regulated.

Some courses that we offer are not Ofqual courses. These have been designed by Animal Jobs Direct to meet specific learners' and/or employers' requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications. These non regulated courses have been constructed according to the standards set in the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) for Vocational or work-related qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The quality of learning and the level of demand within the courses, match the requirements of Entry Level to Level 6 learning.

At the end of non regulated courses successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

Non regulated courses have been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme.  This means that Animal Jobs Direct has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of a non regulated course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at the Level shown on the course page against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course itself has been designed by Animal Jobs Direct to meet specific learners’ and/or employers’ requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications.   ABC Awards & Certa Awards endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met.  A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

ABC Awards and Certa Awards have long-established reputations for providing high quality vocational qualifications across a wide range of industries. ABC Awards and Certa Awards combine over 180 years of expertise combined with a responsive, flexible and innovative approach to the needs of our customers. Renowned for excellent customer service, and quality standards, ABC Awards and Certa Awards also offer regulated qualifications for all ages and abilities post-14; all are developed with the support of relevant stakeholders to ensure that they meet the needs and standards of employers across the UK.

To match the standards expected, the courses are arranged with clear outcomes and matching criteria for achievement.   Course specifications show these aspects and you will be able to demonstrate to an employer both the topics covered in your course and the outcome criteria you have achieved.

Our courses include learning that matches the National Occupational Standards for the animal care industry. This could be either for the theory of animal care and welfare or, in some cases, the option and opportunity to show practical animal care skills. However, please note that the option and opportunity to show practical animal care skills in some of our courses, does not require you to be in a work place caring for animals.

Qualified and experienced tutors

The courses and qualifications that we offer have been developed by our team of animal care, welfare and conservation  experts  and are unique in that they have a strong emphasis on ethics and welfare. Along with challenging assignments which will be marked and assessed by qualified tutors, you will gain valuable knowledge about your chosen subject.

To ensure that our training is relevant to employers, our courses are developed in consultation with organisations across the animal care sector.

All of our tutors have achieved a level of education and experience that matches the needs and expectations of anyone who undertakes our courses. The tutors support and assist achievement whether for assessments, understanding particular topics or general support and encouragement.
