WWF Australia works to conserve Australia's plants and animals by ending land clearing and degradation, addressing climate change, and preserving and protecting fresh water, marine and land environments. Lort Smith Animal Hospital, Victoria has been dedicated to the care and welfare of animals and their owners for more than 70 years. The hospital was recently completely rebuilt and now has 8 consulting suites, 4 surgical theatres, a large dental and small procedures room, and 16 animal wards including a dedicated intensive care unit and isolation ward. The hospital also provides care for stray and unwanted animals, a dedicated cattery and kennels reunite or re-home thousands of cats and dogs each year. Animal jobs are advertised as they arise.

RSPCA ACT, Australian Capital Territory The main functions of the Society in the ACT are: to investigate cases of alleged cruelty or neglect via the Inspectorate; to operate an Animal Shelter; to raise community awareness of animal welfare issues through an education program; to work with Government towards ensuring adequate legislation is in place; and to raise funds to support these functions. Sydney Dogs Home the Shelter is used by ten Sydney Councils from Sydney Harbour to the Georges River. These are Kogarah, Rockdale, Hurstville, Botany, Sydney City (including Centennial Park Trust and South Sydney), Leichardt, Waverley, Randwick, Woollahra and Marrickville. They are able to accommodate 60 dogs at any one time and 30 cats. The Shelter desexes, microchips, vaccinates, worms, heartworm tests and lifetime registers each pet before it leaves.
