Most horses in the UK are owned by individuals and their owners and riders spend over 900 million pounds per year on them; as a result there are a large number of employment possibilities across the equine industry.

The largest sector is the racing one - horse racing is a multi million pound industry and there are dozens of different roles, including racecourse personnel and betting industry careers, some of which offer excellent remuneration.

Although generally speaking, some careers with horses may be better paid than many other types of animal care jobs, you may be required to invest money and time in specialist training - typically horse care courses are more expensive than other career training in the animal care industry.

If you haven’t spent time working with or caring for horses, it is worth considering working as a volunteer or gaining a qualification before embarking on this type of career.
